MBUG November General Meeting
WEDNESDAY, November 9, 2016 – 7:00 to 9:00 pm
Hilltop Park Center
871 Jessie Street, Monterey
FREE to MBUG Members and the General Public

For our November general meeting, we welcome a team led by Carlos Lopez, sales manager, along with Mark Rebolledo, tech supervisor, from Staples in Seaside as our presenters.

Wondering what to buy for people who have everything? Prepare to attend and make a list! This is our yearly meeting where we get to hear about interesting devices and new products to buy. Lopez says he will “bring goodies” to demo some good holiday gifts. For example, you may have heard about Liquid-Armour, a currently hot item that utilizes nano coating technology, which can protect all touch screens—come and hear the discussion!

The Staples ink cartridge recycling program has helped to fund our educational programs for many years (see item on Newsletter page 11). We now include Staples on our page of MBUG Supporters (see Newsletter page 9) and welcome new store general manager Michael Williams. For more information or follow-up, he can be emailed at

Any attendee is welcome to chime in and comment on his or her website of special interest. This is also an opportunity for informal Q & A on computer-related questions.

And don’t forget . . . we will want to hear your QUESTIONS for THE ANSWERS given on page 3 of the December MBUG Newsletter! Hint: Information for formulating some of the questions appears throughout the Newsletter.

MBUG March General Meeting
WEDNESDAY March 11, 2015 – 7:00 to 9:00 pm
Hilltop Park Center
871 Jessie Street, Monterey
FREE to MBUG Members and the General Public

At the March general meeting, we will have three representatives from Best Buy Store # 1061 in Marina. They will get us up to speed on features of the newer smartphones and some of the newer apps available for them. They will bring Best Buy Mobile’s Buyer’s guide with the newest rate plans and a few smartphones to demonstrate.

Our speaker, Alesia B. Ibe, has worked in wireless technology since 2005 as a sales consultant at AT&T, a sales manager at Target Mobile, and now as the connections lead at Best Buy. When it comes to cell phones, she likes to be in the know and have the latest devices. She personally owns an Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S5, so believes she can’t really be biased as to which one is better—she comments they both have their pros and cons and are great phones!

On the program with her is Zakre Labossiere, who has worked in Best Buy Mobile for two years as a wireless sales consultant and one year as a PC sales consultant, and so is pretty adept in computers and mobile devices. Labossiere has taught different PC courses through Best Buy and has a good knowledge of current technology.

Also on the program with Ibe and Labossiere, Samsung Experience lead Katie Cobb will be bringing some Samsung devices for discussion. She has been with Samsung for a year and a half and with Mobile for over five years.

MBUG February General Meeting
WEDNESDAY February 11, 2015 – 7:00 to 9:00 pm
Hilltop Park Center
871 Jessie Street, Monterey
FREE to MBUG Members and the General Public

At the February 11 general meeting, Chris Czomba of Computer Corner returns to give us another information-packed update on the latest developments in PC hardware technology. The discussion will range from Intel’s and AMD’s latest offerings in processors to newer motherboard, RAM, hard drive, and other kinds of technologies.

Chris will talk about exciting new performance improvements in things like SSD’s (solid state drives) and DDR4 RAM. He will also talk a little about how Windows 10 will take advantage of these new hardware trends and whether a new PC or an upgrade would be needed when people decide they want to upgrade to this new operating system.

Bring your questions and join us February 11. If you would like to submit questions in advance, write to or stop by 535 Foam Street (across from the Hodges rental yard) in Monterey. Chris has been supporting computer hardware for over twenty years, including eight years in business for himself as Computer Corner.
